Our Purpose

The purpose of Black Photographers Collective (BPC) not-for-profit 501(c)(3) is to heighten the awareness of the African Diaspora through education, culture, heritage, and empowerment; while raising awareness, thus inspiring the historical value of photographic imagery worldwide.

Incorporated in 2019 and receiving our 501(c)(3) status in 2020, BPC formed an eight-week educational photograph curriculum for teens from 12-17 years of age.

2021 sparked our pending Black Photographers Collective Newsletter, designed to feature visual and literary voices of artists in the African Diaspora and Africa, as we prepare a coffee table book publication featuring the work of today’s Black photographers.

In the summer of 2023, Central Park will once again witness our third annual pot-luck bash and exhibition by the Black Photographers Collective as we bring together photographers and artists in celebration of our work and our lives as ‘we stand on the shoulders of greatness.’
